Once upon a time....

ARCOTEL Hotels celebrate  25-years jubilee – and this is a reason to celebrate. Appropriate to this occasion we want to take you on a journey into the past and tell you the history of the ARCOTEL Nike Linz!

The Nike Story – Part 1

In the middle of the cultural centre of the Danube park raises the obvious ARCOTEL Nike named after the Greek goddess of victory. As a guest of this hotel, which is since 01.01.1997 family-owned by the family Wimmer, you are always in best company!

The Nike sculpture decorated once the Linzer Finance building at the "Nibelungenbrücke".

Later it was sold to a museum in Germany. In 1997 the hotel in the Danube park was bought by the General manager of ARCOTEL Hotels Raimund Wimmer. His wife, the current owner of ARCOTEL Hotels Mrs. Dr. Renate Wimmer who is born and grown up in Linz, remembered the nike sculpture and so the hotel got his name - ARCOTEL Nike.
Unfortunately the efforts to get back the original sculpture from Germany failed. Therefore it was a new sculpture commissioned, which now decorates the ARCOTEL Nike Linz. Beginning with the historic Nike sculpture in front of the Hotel, up to statuary and paintings in all public areas art is lived in all facets of the Hotel.

This easiness of a "savoir-vivre" also enforces in the 169 double rooms and 5 suites, which are spread on 12 floors of the hotel. Since March 2008 the hotel decreeds about 7 floors in new Design and since March 2009 about 3 unique theme suites, the "Kepler suite", the "Circle suite", and the "Steel suite".

This was part 1 of the Nike story! In the next BLOG you will read about the artistic elements which are hidden in all areas of the hotel.
