Robert Mapplethorpe - retrospective in Berlin
C / O Berlin, International Forum For Visual Dialogues, presents, the retrospective of the American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe from 22.01.2011 to 27.03.2011.
"I never liked photography. Not for the sake of photography. I like the object." Robert Mapplethorpe
Strictly dissecting, radically reduced - Robert Mapplethorpe's still lifes and portraits are smooth and formally accomplished compositions almost in a clinical way. Movements in harmony in every detail, flawless bodies turn into landscapes and explicit sexual acts and nudity turn into almost cool unerotic body studies - technical perfection seems to be the most. This aestheticism takes the edge off the content . Therefor his photographs are still up to date these days..
Opening hours
Daily, from 11.00 a.m. to 08.00 p.m.
Location
C / O Berlin Postfuhramt
Oranienburgerstraße 35/36
