Dubrovnik is one of the most attractive tourist destinations not only in Croatia but also in the Mediterranean. Because of its cultural heritage and beauty, already 30 years ago the town was added to the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. Numerous churches, religious buildings, city walls, fortresses and museums enchant every visitor. Anyone can find a beach of their preference and enjoy romantic hidden coves. A vast choice of recreation and sports await each guest. With an evening walk through town let yourself be enthralled by street singers, Dalmatian singing groups klape, troubadours and serenade singers.

Bol - one of the most beautiful tourist places in the central southern part of the island of Brač. Numerous monuments testify to the rich history of this region. "Zlatni rat" is one of the biggest and most beautiful attractions of the Adriatic. A promising number of restaurants and taverns offer delicious specialties of the island of Brač.
The island of Hvar is the longest and sunniest island in the Adriatic, and one of the most beautiful islands in the world. It is known for its mild Mediterranean climate, where the winters are mild and the summers are pleasant. The economy of the island is based on tourism, fishing, olive growing and cultivation of rosemary and lavender. The nightlife in the town of Hvar is one of the liveliest in Dalmatia.

Split - the second largest town in Croatia and one of the most visited and most popular destinations on the Adriatic coast. Numerous historical monuments such as the Diocletian's Palace, the statue of Gregory of Nin, the cathedral. Peristyle, city basements and many other monuments bear witness to its turbulent past. In its proximity lies the town of Trogir, which is known as the town museum.

Vis - the main features of this central Dalmatian island are clean and beautiful sea, sand and pebble beaches and numerous bays that are true oases of peace. In the town of Vis there is a variety of archaeological remains that tell a lot about the development of the city. Ancient art in Vis is reflected in the bronze head of the goddess Artemis, ceramic vases, heads of men and women, collection of amphorae found on the seabed and many others.
Novalja is the most important tourist center of the island of Pag with a rich cultural and historical heritage such as three early Christian basilicas from the 4th and 5th century, Roman aqueduct from the 1st  century, the remains of the mosaic floor of one of the basilicas, which is located within the Gothic church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the submerged ruins of the Roman town Cisse in today’s Caska. For divers, it will be of interest to visit the remains of a sunken merchant ship from 1st century BC. For young adults looking for fun until the wee hours of the morning, Novalja is the right place to visit as it offers the best nightlife in Croatia. The legendary nightlife of this place is centered around the beach Zrće visited in the summer by young people across Europe precisely because of its nightlife. Baška is a place on the island of Krk where  one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic coast is located, town of a typical Mediterranean look with stone houses and narrow streets. In the footsteps of the Habsburgs

For several centuries the Habsburgs’ main residence was in the heart of Vienna, so it's hardly surprising that even today much of the city dates from that era. Discover the places that were most important to the Habsburgs, during an Imperial walk through Vienna city centre.

Start your stroll through the OldTown, or Altstadt, at St Stephen’s Cathedral, the symbol of Vienna. The cathedral, which the Viennese fondly call Steffl, is home to numerous art treasures which you can discover during a guided tour. We especially recommend climbing the 343 steps to the tower room for the splendid view over the rooftops of Vienna.

After a quick pause to catch your breath, cross Kärntner Straße to Neuer Markt, the former site of the Habsburgs’ tombs. Did you know that interments are still carried out in the Kapuzinergruft and former Crown Prince Otto Habsburg was laid to rest here as recently as 2011?
Having stopped briefly, cross Albertinaplatz and the Burggartento the Vienna Hofburg. The Imperial family still occupied this splendid residence until this century and for more than 700 years it served as the Habsburgs’ centre of power.

The entrance to the SpanishRidingSchool is just a few minutes’ walk from here. Vienna’s SpanishRidingSchool is the only institution is the world where the classic equestrian art of haute école has been practised unchanged for more than 440 years. Experience equestrian perfection!

But that’s enough sightseeing. Let’s head to Kohlmarkt. If you can afford it, you can shop on Vienna’s most up-market shopping street, where there are outlets for international luxury brands such as Versace and Gucci, as well as the stores of Viennese jewellers Wagner and Bucherer.

If you don’t have enough pocket money to go shopping in Kohlmarkt, try visiting Vienna’s most famous coffee house, “Demel”. You can sit back and watch the hustle and bustle of Viennese city life over a piece of delicious cake, in the former Imperial court confectioner’s shop.

Tips for a romantic time in Berlin –
“Just the two of us”

Our motto for July is “Just the two of us”, and we’d like to pass on a couple of tips on how to discover the romantic face of Berlin.
First of all, take to the water. On a barbecue boat, for example! The round, orange-coloured boats with parasols make a wonderful surprise outing for your loved one on Lake Kremmen, Lake Müggel, or the River Spree. The boat can be transformed into a giant lilo if you want to drift away together. There are also special offers, such as “Couples’ cuddles”, with sparkling wine and strawberries. You can also float on the lake in Berlin's Tiergarten zoo. The Tiergarten’s Neue See, with its many islands, is ideal for couples seeking a secluded nook for a romantic moment or two.

If you prefer solid ground under your feet, you might feel the romantic vibes at the Brandenburg Gate, the starting point for charming horse-drawn carriage rides though Berlin. Looking for something even more romantic? Then the hour-long, night-time tour might appeal. If you’d like to toast each other with champagne on the way round, you can either buy a bottle additionally, or simply book the 90-minute champagne tour. During the drive you get to see and admire many places of interest from the comfort of your carriage.

If two horsepowers aren’t enough, Berlin also has a drive-in cinema. They were all the rage in the 1950s and 1960s, but now they are more for the nostalgically inclined, or hopeless romantics. Make the best of this experience by hiring a soft-top sports car, picking a romantic spot and preparing to enjoy a very special evening.

Of course, for once you could always forget about excursions and simply enjoy the view and the natural surroundings. What about a picnic for two? Teufelsberg, to the west of Berlin, is a very romantic spot. It’s the site of an old listening and flight monitoring station from the Cold War era, which was used by the American forces, but was mothballed in 1999. From the station there’s a wonderful view of Berlin, because the Teufelsberg is the second highest point in the city.

At the end of the day, you relax and make yourselves at home in one of our comfortable hotel rooms. Enjoy the special holiday atmosphere and bring the evening to a romantic close.

From One Brilliant Mind to Another

v.l.n.r. Patrick Zubac, Wolfgang Kreile, Sebastian Ömer, Gerhard Maier

12 July 2013
The event series "Stuttgarter Köpfe" recently celebrated its tenth anniversary – and the anniversary was certainly celebrated in style!

Since the end of 2008 leading figures from Stuttgart have been meeting at the “Stuttgarter Köpfe” event series on a shared intellectual journey that has always been characterised by new and interesting encounters and stimulating discussions. In the wonderful setting of the 4-star Superior Hotel ARCOTEL Camino Stuttgart, leading figures from the worlds of business, politics, culture, society and sports have picked up new ideas and impulses for their companies and benefited from the spirit of enterprise in Stuttgart. They all take inspiration from the stimulating presentations, use the innovative information they obtain, engage in discussion and make new contacts.

The inspiration for the ARCOTEL Camino Stuttgart was provided by the legendary Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), which for over a thousand years has been a symbol for encounters with others and introspection. In the same way, the ARCOTEL Camino provides a place where people, not just from all over the world, but also from Stuttgart and the surrounding area, can come together and meet. The “Stuttgarter Köpfe” are leading personalities from the worlds of sports, business, politics and society. They are the people who make Stuttgart what it is: an unusual city that attracts attention with exciting opportunities and unique features, a high quality of life and a wide range of cultural activities; a city, which despite its size, has in many areas been able to retain the laidback lifestyle of a much smaller town.

The ARCOTEL Camino recreates the world of the Camino de Santiago – a rediscovery of one’s own path in life and a dialogue with oneself and others. Thus it is no surprise that the idea for the "Stuttgarter Köpfe" was born at the ARCOTEL Camino and that the entire team has been wholehearted, not to say passionate, about implementing the concept.

This year’s talks featured Susanne Eisenmann (Councillor for Education, Culture and Sports of the City of Stuttgart) and Ulrike Groos (Director of the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart) who discussed "Culture in Stuttgart”. They were followed by Bernd Merkle (Swabian dialect author) who gave a dialect reading. The event closed with a talk by Ulrich Kienzle (journalist and publicist) and Rezzo Schlauch (politician and lawyer). The evening was moderated by Gerhard Maier (a leading human resources strategy consultant and managing director at Nagel.Maier.Partner).

"No pleasure is transient, for the mark it leaves is lasting."
(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe)
In keeping with this motto, the Restaurant WEISSENHOF at the ARCOTEL Camino ensured that the social programme was equally enjoyable. Guests were spoiled with exquisite culinary pleasures such as chilled melon soup with grilled prawns, Norwegian salmon and vanilla panna cotta. Musical enjoyment was also guaranteed as throughout the evening "Lounge Experience" – a group of well-known professional musicians, who regularly take to the stage with popular jazz and pop musicians – presented an extensive repertoire of jazz, soul and pop songs in a new guise.

ARCOTEL Camino’s invitation to its guests can best be expressed as "Go Your Own Way – Bon Camino".
