Colorful as life - An entertaining short-term farewell

The end of the Jazzbruch season was marked by large and lavish celebrations on 24 June 2012 in the ARCOTEL Wimberger ballroom. Almost 400 guests made sure not to miss this spectacle.

Directly after hotel director Heinz Stefan’s welcoming address, the gentlemen players from the original Storyville Jazzband took the stage, opening the afternoon’s session of varied musical entertainment. Public idol Hans Theessink was also there to delight the audience with ballads and swinging rhythms. The third band to play was Dana Gillespie & Joachim Palden and, together with the brilliant drummer and unmistakeable saxophonist, they touched the heads and hearts of all those present. Guests found themselves jumping to their feet and moving to the beat. But not only the music was a highlight; the buffet, as sumptuous and delicious as ever, and put together by head chef Peter Lerner and his crew, was aptly described by one guest as “a dream”. Thanks to the excellent organisation both before and during the afternoon, the event went off without a hitch.

The new 2012/13 Jazzbrunch season starts with "Saxophone Affairs” on 16 September 2012.
We’ll be happy to send you a free WIMBERGERs Repertoire schedule hot off the press.

Winner over hearts with passion for football!

Sunday June 3 2012 10:00 a.m. in Stuttgart:
The engines are running and it is drizzling outside at cold 13 degrees Celcius. The atmosphere is great and full of anticipation as we set off on our way to Cologne where the German finals of the Hotelcup are being held. After our ARCOTEL Camino football team placed first at the tournament in Stuttgart, "Go Camino, another goal!", we were convinced we had a good chance in the finals. At 3:00 p.m. we arrived in Cologne and registered for the tournament. Of course we brought a legion of fans with us. Employees from all departments came along to cheer us on.

In the first game against the Falkenstein Grand Kempinski Hotel Königstein we took a 2:0 lead. Some mistakes destroyed the lead and we were behind 2:3. Unfortunately we were not able to recuperate and so we had our first defeat. With a 2:2 draw against the NH Hotel Hamburg Altona we were able to regain hopes of taking the tournament. In the third game, against the defending champion Innside by Melia Frankfurt, we performed well but were defeated with 0:2.

In the final preliminary round match there was some hope of moving into the quarterfinals. The Best Western Park Consul Hotel from Cologne took to a quick 1:0 lead. Our youngest player, Sandro Capuozzo, then scored the tying goal and his first goal in a tournament. THANK YOU Sandro for the memorable outburst of cheer you triggered. You really deserve it. Unfortunately the goal was not enough to turn the game around and we lost 1:5. The dream of the finals in Cologne was over.

In the penalty shoot out for the last places we were up against the 25Hours Hotel Frankfurt: we were defeated 1:2. In the end we were in competition for second to last place against the Maritim Hotel Stuttgart the team we were able to defeat in the finals in Stuttgart. The penalty shoot out against the Martim team ended 1:3 for Maritim. The Maritim Hotel secured third to last place and we were dead last.

Considering that we played against the teams in our group that went on to place first, third and fourth, we are very pleased with the overall result, even if we came in last.
We are looking forward to the Hotelcup 2013 and would like to thank all the fans that traveled with us for their incredible dedication and support. THANK YOU! We also need you in 2013.

The Hotelcup has been the main football tournament in the hotel industry since 2009 and the number of participants is increasing each year. After the first tournament of this popular series in 2012 held in Hamburg the number of teams registering has increased each year. The Hotelcup hold tournaments in several German cities. The top two teams in each city advance to the big Germany finals where they represented their destination.

Hochosterwitz Castle - a TOP destination in Carinthia

Hochosterwitz Castle is one of the most picturesque castles in Austria. It is located in today's municipality of St. Georgen am Längsee, east of St. Veit an der Glan, and is one of the landmarks of Austria's federal province of Carinthia. Standing on a Dolomite rock, rising 175 metres above the village, it was first mentioned in records in 860.

To fortify the castle against the impending Turkish invasion, George Baron of Khevenhüller had 14 gates built on the path leading to the castle. Owing to this protection, the castle was never taken. The use of such a large number of obstacles to defend a path leading to a castle is rather rare and is considered unique in caslte construction. The castle has been continously owned by the Khevenhüller family up to the present day and can be reached either on foot or by a lift. Hochosterwitz Castle is an exciting destination for young and old.

14 gates lead to the medieval castle and its armoury, museum, collection of arms and other historical collections. The small castle chapel is decorated with remarkable murals on walls and ceiling. The castle's restaurant, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding area, serves delightful Austrian cuisine.

A museum and a passenger lift are available from April up to and including 1 November.

Enjoy the romantic atmosphere of the castle and the unique view of a historically rich part of Carinthia.

Everyone’s fingers will be crossed on 9th June 2012 at 20.45, as "our boys" take on Portugal; a team which, like Germany, is in the TOP 10 of the FIFA world ranking list. Both teams are among the best in the world, which has sparked considerable rivalry both on and off the pitch; fans can expect to see reflections of a long rich history in the stadium. And "last but not least", there are the Danes, with your controversial duels on the pitch; to take place on the following Sunday (17th June) at 20.45 in Charkiw.
TOP 10 teams in the FIFA world rankings, football rivalry and duals between pros are not things that will sway our top-form, highly motivated national team. With this our chances of success are, as always, more than good.

Even if a game should sadly not be played in one of our stadiums and there is no official "Public Viewing" arranged in the Stuttgart Castle Area, everyone resident of Stuttgart can still so easily get into the football spirit in many ways. Watching football together and sharing the excitement of such big tournaments is definitely a part of it and many bars / taverns and other establishments in Stuttgart will be inviting guests to one football party or another, be it great or small in size.

As for us, ARCOTEL Camino Stuttgart, we too are making a very special experience of the European Football Championship in our BAR SCALA. Enjoy the most heated duels between teams all in pleasantly cool temperatures in our BAR SCALA.
